From a humble atap-house kampung beginning to an automated factory that we have today, we celebrate every milestone achieved, and take pride in the rich history that Lee Lum Huat Pte. Ltd. was founded upon.
Founded by our grandfather Mr Lee Shi Luo, Lee Lum Huat & Co. began its journey in noodle manufacturing in a little kampong called Jalan Bukit Cheng Hua (Bukit Panjang district). Back then, all our noodles were handmade in a little atap kitchen of about 6 x 6m, built in the backyard of our grandfather’s house.
An unfortunate fire burnt down most of the infrastructure that we had, attributed to the easily flammable nature of the atap houses. Another kitchen was rebuilt, this time made with a zinc rooftop.
The introduction of machinery marks the beginning of a new industrialized era for Lee Lum Huat & Co.. Moving away from handmade products, machinery allowed us to scale our production, and introduce standardization and consistency to our noodles.
Lee Lum Huat & Co. introduced kuay teow to our line of products. The early days of kuay teow were handmade, and a knife had to be used to cut the kuay into various sizes.
Due to the government’s initiative to redevelop Singapore’s kampungs, Lee Lum Huat & Co. departed our little kampung kitchen in Jalan Bukit Cheng Hua for a factory in Marsiling Industrial Park.
Again, with the government’s initiative to organize Singapore’s factories into respective clusters, Lee Lum Huat and Co. departed our Marsiling factory to join the F&B manufacturing cluster in 15 Woodlands Loop.
